Putting Women’s Mental Health Front and Center
In honor of World Mental Health Day, Giving Compass recently published an article (co-authored by our senior director Julie Slay) on how donors can better support women’s mental health and wellbeing, an area that is drastically underfunded compared to the level of need.
Slay and co-author Mary Rainwater based their suggestions in the article on an issue brief Arabella Advisors recently created on behalf of the Hope & Grace Fund that explores opportunities for funders to support women’s mental health and wellbeing in ways that are both simple and innovative. Among their suggestions:
- Funders can support interventions that address mental health and other social challenges simultaneously, potentially amplifying their impact without significantly increasing their investments.
- Funders can advocate for and invest in research that focuses specifically on women’s mental health and wellbeing, providing a much-needed baseline for understanding improvements going forward.
