Kate McAdams Returns Home to Chicago, Joins Arabella Advisors
Arabella Advisors is excited to announce that Kate McAdams has joined the firm as a managing director in our Chicago office. For McAdams, the move represents a double homecoming, as she returns both to her Chicago home and to her work with philanthropists and social entrepreneurs in the Windy City and across the Midwest.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Arabella,” McAdams said. “It’s a remarkable team of people who provide a full-service platform to help foundations, corporations, individuals and families advance social impact through effective philanthropy.”
McAdams has deep roots in the Chicago philanthropy world. She previously served as executive director of The Pritzker Traubert Family Foundation, where she guided investments in programs to improve schools, health and fitness, arts and culture, and skills training in Chicago and nationally. She also served as a key policy advisor in the Office of Mayor Richard M. Daley, where she implemented public-private partnerships, created new initiatives to expand access to technology, and streamlined government processes through performance management.
Most recently, McAdams has been in Washington, working as a presidentially appointed senior advisor to US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. At Commerce, her portfolio consisted of developing and implementing the secretary’s strategic priorities, including growing entrepreneurship, increasing travel and tourism to the United States, and developing policy initiatives to support 21st-Century skills development, a key pillar of the department’s “Open for Business” agenda.
“Kate clearly brings unparalleled talents, skills, and networks that will position us to help even more philanthropists across the region achieve even greater good,” said Bruce Boyd, Arabella’s Principal and Senior Managing Director in Chicago. “We’re unbelievably excited to have her join the team.”
Arabella Advisors provides an end-to-end platform of philanthropic services, helping clients to understand complex problems, develop and implement innovative solutions, and achieve social and environmental impact at scale. McAdams will focus on enabling clients across the Midwest take advantage of the Arabella platform as they seek to better both the region and the world beyond.
